Consorzio Milano Ricerche (CMR) is a non-profit research consortium established in 1986 by the Universities in Milano and a number of industrial companies. Its mission is to perform industrial research and technology transfer through cooperative projects linking its partners and other companies. As far as the ICT sector is concerned Milano Ricerche has been developing specific competences in knowledge management, focusing in particular on probabilistic modelling and approximate reasoning along with data analysis, computational machine learning for data mining. Its competency is strongly focused on the application of probabilistic methods to sequential data analysis, prediction and anomaly detection in sensor networks. Since 2002 the Quality System of Milano Ricerche is certified UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 for Research Project Management and for Continuous Vocational Training.

Personnel envolved:

The ICT Unit, involved in HECTOR, has been developing specific competences in the area of data analysis, computational machine learning for data, text and web mining focusing in particular on probabilistic modelling and approximate reasoning. In the last years the most significant activity has been in sensor networks, data integration, design of complex queries and “stream reasoning”.

Business strategy:

CMR participates to various research project funded by the EDA, the European Commission and by National institutions, together with partnerships with companies. In these projects CMR has acquired wide expertise in sensor data analysis techniques for diagnostics and prognostics, with production of software components and publishing of research papers on journal and conference proceedings. A wide staff of highly skilled researchers, from the area of machine learning, robotics, computer vision, permit at Milano Ricerche to endorse the creation of new enterprises in high-tech fields. The participation to HECTOR will allow CMR to increase the know-how in the field of multi-sensor data analysis and sensor networks design, proposing new techniques and methods from the area of machine learning. The cooperation with the members of the consortium will bring future development of joint research and technology transfer.
