SIGMALab is active in several European Projects also as Coordinator

HECTOR

European Defence Agency Joint Investment Programme on Innovative Concepts and Emerging Technologies (JIP-ICET), Call N. 1, Ref. A-0779-RT-GC: "Monitoring and control", "HElicopter fuselage Crack moniToring and prognosis through on-board sensOR" - HECTOR, 2009-2011. Partner (ITALY, POLAND, NORWAY, GREECE): POLIMI (coordinator) CMR, SINTEF, UNIZA, AGH, LTSM-UP, AGUSTAWESTLAND, VITROCISET.
The main purpose of the project is to propose modelling techniques for the analysis of multiple sensors in producing a unified and comprehensive method for identification, monitoring and prognosis of potential damages (like cracks) in the fuselage of a helicopter. ASTIANAX

European Defence Agency Tendering procedure, Ad Hoc Research & Technology Project, No B 1288 ESM2 GP, "Aircraft fuSelage crack moniToring sYstem And progNosis through on-boArd eXpert sensor network" - ASTYANAX, 2012-2015. Partner(ITALY, POLAND, SPAIN): POLIMI (coordinator) ALENIAAERMACCHI, AGUSTAWESTLAND, Air Force Institute of Technology, Military Aviation Works No. 1, AGH University of Science and Technology, Instituto Nacional de Tecnica Aeroespacial.
The research project ASTYANAX will be focused on the development of a reliable methodology for the application of a SHM system on an aerodyne (rotorcraft and airplane platforms) structure. The exploitation of the results coming from a previous project promoted and financed by EDA (HECTOR) will be considered hereafter: the goal is to extend the developed methodologies, currently defined and tested only on a specimen representative of a real part of a helicopter fuselage, on an existing air-vehicle structure, by including the needed details and characteristics of a real machine (cost analysis, certification, etc.).

ISSA

European Defence Agency Tendering procedure, Ad Hoc Research & Technology Project, No B 1190 ESM2 GP “Integrated Simulation of Non-Linear Aero-Structural Phenomena Arising On Combat Aircraft In Transonic Flight”, ISSA 2013-2016 Partner (ITALY, SWEDEN): ALENIAAERMACCHI (coordinator), POLIMI, SAAB, KTH .
The scope of ISSA is to create an environment of validated linear and high-fidelity analytical methods and tools for the investigation of LCO, mainly focusing on fighter external store configurations flying in transonic conditions.
